Winners of the Second Annual Young Playwright to be Read on Stage April 17

West Palm Beach, Fla. – Palm Beach Dramaworks is delighted to announce that 19 students from five middle schools are the winners of the second annual Young Playwrights 1-Minute Play Contest. Inspired by PBD’s hugely popular Young Playwrights 10-Minute Play Contest for high school students, the 1-Minute Play Contest is open to all Palm Beach County students in grades six through eight and challenges them to tell a complete story in just 60 seconds. The plays will receive a staged reading by professional actors in front of an audience at the Don & Anne Brown Theatre on Wednesday, April 17 at 7pm. Tickets are free, but reservations are required.

“I am so impressed with the winning plays this year,” said Gary Cadwallader, PBD’s director of education and community engagement. “Our young playwrights are writing about serious topics in their lives and in our community, and are doing so with concise and clear ideas. I am so proud that PBD is giving young artists the platform to tell their stories in a safe, nurturing environment. Everybody has a story to tell, and we encourage free expression of thoughts and ideas impacting young people.”
