With a number of notable improvements, including a PhD director in Christy Rodriguez de Conte, Lake Worth is having a meteoric rise, and they welcome plantlike aliens into their ranks on that ascent. Little Shop captures the camp, the laughs, and the terror that make this quirky musical one of the best ever.

They say “truth is stranger than fiction” but if the plot of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN: The Musical were a work of fiction, it would never fly. I’m also using “fly” here literally for that’s how we are introduced to the young high-flyer who posed as a pilot and was ultimately caught at an airport, about to board a plane. From the age of 16 to 18 (early 1960s, in our storyline), he was the youngest, most prolific, and genius conman to ever have gotten away with two years of multiple professional identities (Pan Am co-pilot, surgeon, lawyer – though he did later study and pass the bar exam) along with printing millions of dollars-worth of counterfeit checks.

Adrienne Arsht Center Launches The Arshties, a New Musical Theater Awards Program for Miami-Dade High Schools

 The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter) is proud to announce the launch of THE ARSHT HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATER AWARDS PROGRAM, affectionately referred to as THE ARSHTIES, a new annual program designed to celebrate, elevate and expand musical theater education in Miami-Dade County high schools. This marks the Adrienne Arsht Center’s latest investment in arts education, offering students and teachers professional-level experiences and recognition for their work both on and off the stage. The development of The Arshties was funded by The Children’s Trust. Pompano Beach Arts Launches its 2025 – 2026 Artists in Residence Program

The City of Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department is delighted to host the launch of its annual Artists in Residence (AiR) Program with its first exhibition on Oct. 3, 2025 at Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) in Pompano Beach.

During October thru June, eight artists carefully selected by a distinguished panel of judges, and one AiR alumnus, will participate in this exclusive program at the historic BaCA. Each artist experiences a solo exhibition for one month during the nine-month residency.

The Carbonell Awards Welcome Four New Judges for 2025-2026 Theatre Season

The Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s most highly coveted recognition of theatrical production and performance excellence, today announced four new judges. They will bring the total number of Carbonell judges to 48, including 18 in Broward County, 11 in Miami-Dade, and 19 in Palm Beach County. Collectively, they will see and evaluate more than 100 different productions at more than 30 professional theaters. The current theater season runs between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026.

There’s a reason why some stories become timeless classics. They tend to feature truths about the human condition that resonate anew for each generation. Pulitzer-prize-winning author Larry McMurtry’s novel about an intense, difficult yet devoted mother-daughter relationship, marital troubles, and issues with lovers called TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, became a literary sensation in 1975. His highly emotional-yet-relatable story gained cinematic fame when the 1983 movie-version won five Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay by James L. Brooks.
