Celebrate the holidays and one of South Florida’s leading arts institutions when Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents The Nutcracker Gala Night on Thursday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. The company’sArtistic Director Vladimir Issaev choreographs and directs the classic ballet to Tchaikovsky’s popular score. Based on the tale of E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Nutcracker features the charm of the holidays with snowflakes, sugarplums, naughty little boys and magical dolls. The extraordinary talent of Arts Ballet Theatre’s own ballet stars brings the principal roles to life with grace and precision while a community cast, including local character artists and children, add an authentic touch to the performance.
There are more opportunities to enjoy Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida’s production of The Nutcracker on Friday, December 8 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 10 at 3 p.m. The Nutcracker serves as an introduction to ballet for young audiences and is guaranteed to entertain any age with its engaging choreography – from the fun of the party scene to the harrowing battle scene to the enchanting kingdom of the sweets. This awarded professional company features their own ballet stars performing the principal roles, as well as a community cast made up of local character artists and children. Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is proud to present a “sensory-inclusive” dance performance of the holiday classic ballet The Nutcracker Saturday, December 9 at 11 a.m. With dancers of all ages, colorful costumes and breathtaking music, this modified, 60-minute abridged performance celebrates the magic of the season and serves as wonderful introduction to the ballet. This Sensory-Inclusive Performance is intended to create a welcoming and supportive environment for children and adults on the autism spectrum as well as individuals with other sensitivity issues or developmental disabilities. Slight adjustments have been made to the production including reduced sound levels, no flashing or strobe lights and minimal special effects. An area adjacent to the theater has been designated as the ABA Centers of Florida Sensory Quiet Room with a specially-trained therapist to provide audience support. Enjoy pre-show arts and crafts with Young At Art Museum and a post-show character meet & greet. This performance will benefit SOVENIA USA. South Florida Legends presentsChristmas with the Ricardosfeaturing favorite Christmas songs and the comedic skits from the I Love Lucy Showon Saturday, December 23 at 3 and 8 p.m. Performed by the most authentic Lucille Ball impersonator in the world, this show includes nostalgic stage settings and costume changes as Lucy and Ricky pack their bags to escape the cold weather and take a vacation to Florida. Amid the mischief and shenanigans, Lucy performs her rendition of The Nutcracker, disguises herself as Santa Claus and sings “Baby it’s Cold Outside” with Ricky.
