Levis JCC announces 2024 Summer of Culture and Summer Film Series

In response to a growing year-round demand for high quality cultural programming, the Adolph & Rose Levis JCC has announced a season of diverse cultural programming which includes a special Summer Film Series, a new component of the Judy Levis Krug Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival.

“As more and more full-time residents flock to South Florida, the desire for cultural enrichment continues during the summer months,” said Stephanie Owitz, vice president of Arts, Culture & Learning at the Levis JCC. “We are uniquely positioned to provide everything from live musical performances, exhibits and day trips to inspiring virtual lectures and literary events.”

Andrés Cárdenes is a Cuban-born violinist, teacher, conductor, and concertmaster.

The Summer Film Series runs on select Wednesdays at 1pm now through Aug. 28 and includes an array of movies, including select features from this year’s Judy Levis Krug Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival. The Summer Film Series pass for all 13 films is $100, or $12 per film.

West Boca Theatre Company presents two staged readings including Barbra’s Wedding: A Comedy by Daniel Stern on Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m. and Rounding Third: A Comedy by Richard Dresser on Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.

The Elevar Foundation presents a free Chamber Music Concert on Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m. featuring Andrés Cárdenes, a Cuban-born violinist, teacher, conductor, and concertmaster

Israel: A Photographic Retrospective by photographer Benjamin Kenagen will be on display from May 30 to Sept. 30 and will feature photographs taken between 1990 and 2023. This exhibit is free and open to the public. 

Day trips will include excursions to the Wick Theatre and Costume Museum on Tuesday, May 21 at noon and the Boca Raton Museum of Art on Thursday, July 25 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $60 and $20, respectively. RSVP is required.

Virtual adult learning lectures span topics from classic and modern-day music, film and TV history to timely discussions about Jewish history and current events. Lectures are led by esteemed authors, educators and experts. Programs run from May through September and the cost is $10 for non-virtual members. 

The Gail Shapiro-Scott Summer Book Club meets at 10 a.m. on Thursdays, June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1. Recordings will be made available for virtual members. Tickets are $10.
