Get ready to kick off the holiday season this weekend with a heartwarming family musical performance that celebrates the joy, spirit and timeless melodies of the holidays.
The Florida Intergenerational Orchestra (FLIOA), under the direction of its founder, Lorraine Marks Field, is ready to spread Christmas and Hanukkah spirit as she and her troupe of local musicians present a show called ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,’ a festive concert featuring an impressive ensemble of musicians spanning multiple generations.
The enchanting performance will take place Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in O’Shea Hall at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 22094 Lyons Road, Boca Raton. Doors open at 2:30 pm.
“Made up of a distinctive blend of young, adult and senior musicians, FLIOA creates an inclusive atmosphere that showcases the talent and diversity of our community,” said Field.
Under her masterly direction, the orchestra will perform a variety of beloved holiday classics, from traditional carols to contemporary festive hits, ensuring that there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Whether audience members are coming to hear their favorite carols or simply to experience the joy of live music performed by an exceptional group of musicians, this concert promises to be a joyful experience for all ages.
Tickets are available now at www.FLIOA.org. General admission is $20 and VIP seats (in the first three rows) are $40. Children under 12 get in free.

The event will also feature a special visit from Santa and an original song written by Bob Field (Lorraine’s husband) and sung by soprano Roselida Mautner. The tune was scored for the orchestra by esteemed conductor and arranger Peter Fuchs.
Shakespearian actor and former star of “As the World Turns,” Peter Galvin, will narrate “The Night Before Christmas,” featuring students from the Children’s House Montessori School singing holiday tunes with Vince Zabik.
Violinist James Gaskill will perform “Winter” from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.” Other holiday favorites will include “White Christmas,” “Christmas Waltz,” “Oh, Hanukkah” and “Sleigh Ride.”
The Rotary Club of Boca Raton will conduct its toy drive at the concert. Those attending may donate an unwrapped toy. An art and jewelry display and sale to benefit FLIOA will also be held.
For 19 years, the Florida Intergenerational Orchestra has been bringing together musicians of all ages and backgrounds to create meaningful, multigenerational connections through the power of music. The current ensemble ranges in age from 9 to 96.
The non-profit orchestra was honored by the State of Florida, Department of Elder Affair, with the “Legacy Award” for its intergenerational concept.
FLIOA strives to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where musicians, regardless of age, can share their love of music with their community.
