It seems that South Florida audiences never tire of either seeing the jukebox musical “Jersey Boys” or hearing the songs of Frankie Valli, the famed singer whose life was portrayed in “Jersey Boys”.
Singer John Lloyd Young, who starred in both the Broadway run and the 2014 film “Jersey Boys” will be singing both the Frankie Valli hit songs as well as some of his own songs in four shows to be performing on Wednesday, March 26 and two shows on Thursday, March 27 at Delray Beach Playhouse in Delray Beach and on Friday, March 28 at Aventura Arts and Cultural Center in Aventura.
“There are always ‘Jersey Boys’ songs in every performance that I do. The audience never tries of them.I also share some classic R& B, doo wop, ad Motown that I’ve recorded over the years and some soaring emotional songs. That I’ve always loved, such as the songs by Roy Orbison and Little Anthony,” said Young, who has performed in South Florida in concert, beginning in small private venues prior to becoming famous as the star of “Jersey Boys”.
Pianist Jon Rose is part of the three man band that performs with Young at the Aventura show and Eero Turunn is the pianist in both Delray Beach shows. Ludwig Afonse on drums and Paul Shewchuk on bass will join Young at all three one act 90 minute shows.
Along Young did not reveal the entire set list, the audience should expect iconic Valli songs such as “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”, “Sherry Baby” and “Who Love You Baby” as well as the famed Roy Orbison hit “Pretty Woman” among other songs from the 1970s in the three shows.
