Cancer-fighting Pap Corps group sets ‘Pap’s Got Talent’ fundraising event

Singing, dancing and the fight against cancer will be in the spotlight March 7 as The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research present “Pap’s Got Talent” at 2 p.m. in the impressive Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University, 3601 N. Military Trail, Boca Raton.

The high-energy production promises to deliver a delightful display of artistry featuring talented members of The Pap Corps, many of whom have survived cancer or are performing in honor of someone they love. Proceeds will fund groundbreaking cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Tickets for this signature extravaganza are $120, available at www.thepapcorps.org.

This special happening will be led by a powerhouse duo of popular South Florida personalities.  Michael Williams, the Emmy award-winning TV news anchor and current adjunct professor at Lynn University, is joining forces with award-winning local stage performer/vocalist Aaron Bower to host the festivities, bringing a flawless blend of professional broadcast charisma and theatrical flair to the afternoon.

In addition to the onstage competition, guests will be treated to a selection of fabulous food and a variety of surprises designed to delight the audience throughout the program.

While the live event takes place in Boca Raton, the mission to fund groundbreaking treatments for all cancers extends far beyond the theater walls. Everyone, everywhere, can support vital cancer research by “VOTING for Pap.”

Supporters are encouraged to visit the organization’s website to watch video performances of the contestants and cast votes for their favorites. Each vote costs just $5, and there is no limit to how many times a person can cast his or her ballot, making it easier for friends, family and philanthropists worldwide to contribute to the cause.Since its founding in 1952, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, including a historic $50 million pledge in 2016.

The Pap Corps derives its name from Dr. George Papanicolaou, a pioneer in cytopathology and early cancer detection, who introduced the world to the revolutionary ‘Pap’ test.

A small group of women began the organization to support his efforts, and over the decades, it has grown into an organization of more than 20,000 men and women in more than 50 chapters, who raise funds to support research for all types of cancers.
