ARCA IMAGES 25th ANNIVERSARY SEASON BEGINS WITH SERGIO BLANCO’S “KASSANDRA”

Arca Images 25th Anniversary season begins with Sergio Blanco’s “KASSANDRA“, plus special performances of “Memento Mori” October 16-26, 2025 at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center.

Sergio Blanco, the award-winning playwright from Uruguay, returns to Miami for two special theatrical events, produced by one of South Florida’s leading Hispanic theater companies, Arca Images. Launching the company’s robust 25th anniversary season during unsettled times, Arca first presents Blanco’s Kassandra for its Miami premiere at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center from October 16 through 19, and October 25 and 26.Produced in partnership with the Center, Roxy Theater Group and Miami-Dade County Auditorium, this is a play that uses broken English and is accessible both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. The second is the U.S. premiere of Blanco’s one-person show, performed by the playwright himself, Memento Mori, also at Westchester, on Thursday, October 23 and Friday, October 24.

Palm Beach Symphony Presents “A TV Guide to the Orchestra”

Palm Beach Symphony Music Director Gerard Schwarz will conduct A TV Guide to the Orchestra, the latest installment in the Dale A. McNulty Children’s Concert Series, on Sunday, October 5 at 3 p.m. at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. This family-friendly production is in collaboration with Young Artists from the Goldner Conservatory at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

Ease on Down to Miami: The Arsht celebrates 50 Years of THE WIZ with South Florida premiere starring hometown talent.

The Tony Award®-winning Best Musical that took the world by storm is back!  The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America are proud to launch the 2025-26 Broadway in Miami series with the South Florida premiere of THE WIZ, for a limited engagement this fall from October 7-12, 2025 in the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House. Celebrating 50 years since the beloved musical first opened on Broadway in 1975, this new revival features hometown talent including Miami native Amitria Fanae’ (Addaperle), along with Florida-natives Kameren Whigham (Ensemble) from Fort Lauderdale and Sai Anthony (Ensemble / US scarecrow) from Jacksonville.

Carbonell Awards Names NEW CITY PLAYERS as Winner of First Jan McArt Award for Small Theatre

Gary Schweikhart, board president of the Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s Theater & Arts Honors, today announced the recipient of the first of seven additional Special Awards that will be presented at the 48th annual Carbonell Awards Ceremony on Monday, November 17, at 7:30 pm at FAU’s University Theatre in Boca Raton 33431. 

“While we will be honoring in 20 competitive categories specific theatre performances, production elements, and shows presented between September 2024 and August 2025, the Carbonell board of directors has unanimously voted to also bestow the following Special Award,” said Schweikhart.
