The 2023 South Beach Jazz Festival promises a compelling sampler of styles and talent, from established veterans to future stars. The annual event takes place for three days beginning Jan. 5 through Jan. 8 in several Miami Beach locations and will showcase artists such as pianist Monty Alexander, percussionist Sammy Figueroa, and vocalist Wendy Pedersen.

Written by five-time Carbonell Award winner and Miami-based playwright Michael McKeever, the play continues the Arsht Center’s Theater Up Close series for the 2022-2023 season.

The upcoming New Year’s Eve gala show at the Wick Theater in Boca Raton is highly unusual for both the gala’s performer, actor/singer Erich Bergen, as well as the audience.

Bergen, born and raised in New York City, will be celebrating his 37th birthday at the gala, a fundraiser for the Wick Theater, performing the songs of the singers and songwriters he and his parents remember, such as Frank Sinatra, Peter Allen, Michael Jackson, Barry Manilow, George Michael as well as the more contemporary Harry Styles, among others.

 The powerhouse performer and Carnegie Hall headliner whose vocal style has been compared to Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli and Michael Bolton will serenade the audience with his soaring tenor voice, singing timeless songs from his Italian, Broadway and holiday repertoires, including soul-stirring renditions of “O Holy Night,” “O Sole Mio,” “Somewhere,” “Funniculi, Funnicula,” “The Christmas Song” and other classics.

National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) of Florida, based in Boca Raton, recently announced their 2023 scholarships and competitions. Applications are now available for outstanding young artists in Florida in the disciplines of music, voice, drama, and visual arts. Every year, the national NSAL organization selects one discipline as the key competition.
