Seraphic Fire Opens Music History 101 Season with Musical Time Travel

75 minutes of a 1000-year melodic journey from Medieval to Contemporary

Artistic Director Patrick Dupre Quigley and the Seraphic Fire artists perform a crash course on the history of Western music in one lively evening with chorus, period keyboard instruments, and cello. The contrasts and connections between eras will be on full display: the stark simplicity of Medieval chant, the rich polyphony of the Renaissance, the ornate structure of the Baroque, the elegant balance of the Classical, the passionate intensity of the Romantic, and the creative ingenuity of the Contemporary.
