The death Sept. 17 of long-time Lake Worth Playhouse Executive Director Stephanie Smith continues to weigh heavily on the staff, stage crew and actors at the downtown Lake Worth Beach Playhouse which is just now beginning its 71st production season.

The Wick Theatre opens the 2023-2024 season with a celebration of its 10^th anniversary by bringing back to their stage a beloved musical featuring an extravagant array of Irving Berlin’s greatest songs. I Love a Piano, directed by D.J. Salisbury, is the critically acclaimed musical tribute to one of America’s greatest composers and lyricists, with beloved songs like “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Anything You Can Do” and “God Bless America.” Conceived by Ray Roderick and Michael Berkeley, the show captures the American spirit and tells the touching stories that connect us all. I Love a Piano runs October 19-November 12, 2023, with evening shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and matinees on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $94 and are available at www.thewick.org or by calling the box office at 561-995-2333.

(South Florida – September 27, 2023) Gary Schweikhart, board president of the Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s Theater & Arts Honors, today announced the nominations in 20 competitive categories for the 2022-2023 theater season. A total of 45 productions at 22 different theatres were evaluated by a diverse group of more than 30 experienced judges representing all three participating counties (Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach).

The Silver Palm Awards will be returning to The Addison of Boca Raton on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 6:30  p.m., when the recipients of this year’s awards will be honored. The Silver Palms Awards were established in  2008, conceived to celebrate the work of theater artists who live in South Florida.
