National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) of Florida, based in Boca Raton, recently announced their 2023 scholarships and competitions. Applications are now available for outstanding young artists in Florida in the disciplines of music, voice, drama, and visual arts. Every year, the national NSAL organization selects one discipline as the key competition. Since he first wore a pair of round eyeglasses at age 13, Rick Schuler’s family and friends told him about his strong physical resemblance to singer/songwriter John Denver. Denver became famous for his best selling hit songs such as “Rocky Mountain High’, “Sunshine On My Shoulder”, “Annie’s Song”, among others.

Within three years after donning the Denver-like eyeglasses, Schuler discovered that he not only loved to sing and play the guitar, but that his tenor voice was the perfect match to Denver. 

What includes a taste of Italy’s vibrant dance scene and a new, contemporary spin on the classic ballet The Nutcracker? That would be Dance NOW! Miami’s Program I, on Saturday, December 10, when this leading Florida ensemble world premieres their new piece Clara and share the stage with Compagnia Opus Ballet, direct from Florence for their U.S. debut.
