A Haunting Experience at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center

Get ready to be transported into the chilling world of Edgar Allan Poe as Pompano Beach Arts presents The House of Poe’s Horrors. This immersive haunted house experience will bring the author’s dark and twisted tales to life, offering guests a thrilling adventure filled with jump scares, surprises, and unforgettable memories. The Pompano Beach Cultural Center will be transformed into a mesmerizing maze of themed zones each inspired by a classic Poe story. From the eerie “Oval Portrait” to the terrifying “Pit and the Pendulum,” guests will encounter a variety of chilling scenes and encounters. The experience will run October 24-26, from 6-9pm. Each 30-minute experience is limited to 40 people at a time, tickets are $13 per person at www.pompanobeacharts.org.

“We are thrilled to produce our own haunted house experience, bringing to life the works of the master of the macabre,” said Ty Tabing, Director of The City of Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department, operating as Pompano Beach Arts. “This will be an elaborate production offered at an affordable price, so that everyone can get into the Halloween spirit!”

Highlights of the experience include:

  • The Oval Portrait: Witness the chilling tale of a young wife who is driven to madness by her husband’s obsessive painting.

  • Dream-Land: Explore a surreal landscape filled with dark secrets and unexpected dangers.

  • Spirits of the Dead: Encounter haunting spirits and ghostly apparitions that will send shivers down your spine.

  • Tell-Tale Heart: Experience the madness and guilt of a man driven to murder by the beating of a tell-tale heart.

  • The Fall of the House of Usher: Explore a decaying mansion haunted by a tragic family history.

  • The Pit and the Pendulum: Experience the horrors of torture and imprisonment in a chilling Spanish Inquisition setting.

The culmination of the event is the stage presentation of The Raven by a ghostly vision of Poe himself. During this eerie encounter guests can calm their nerves with some delicious potions including:

Raven’s Midnight Brew – A dark, rich cocktail with black vodka, cranberry juice, and a splash of lime. Garnished with a black sugar rim.

The Pit and the Pendulum Punch – A striking, layered punch with rum, pineapple juice, and grenadine. Served with a dramatic garnish like a skewer of fresh fruit.

Spirits of the Dead Elixir – A ghostly white cocktail with coconut rum, pineapple juice, and a splash of soda. Garnished with a floating edible flower or ghost-shaped ice cube.

The mission of the Cultural Affairs Department is to provide cultural programming that includes visual arts, digital media, music, film, theater, dance and public art for the enjoyment and enrichment of residents and visitors to Pompano Beach, Broward County, and the greater South Florida area.
