The Adolph & Rose Levis JCC will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Judy Levis Krug Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival this year when it opens a dynamic two-week lineup of more than 40 Israeli and Jewish-themed films. The screenings will run from Feb. 7 to Feb. 22 and will take place at the Movies of Delray in the plaza at 7421 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach.
The Levis JCC’s film festival – which is not associated with the Boca Raton International Jewish Film Festival — will feature a variety of Israeli and Jewish-themed full-length feature films and documentaries along with a number of short films.
The film festival’s mission is to provide the newest, most stimulating and thought-provoking films that encourage audiences to expand their awareness and understanding of the Jewish world and engage in dialogue to explore the many diverse perspectives portrayed by the films presented.
Now marking its 10th year, Boca Raton’s original Jewish film festival continues to offer entertaining, inspiring and thought-provoking stories; meaningful community connection and opportunities to engage directly with filmmakers, producers, actors and directors at screenings and special events.
Viewed by more than 3,000 film enthusiasts last year, the Judy Levis Krug Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival is a premier destination for Jewish and international films. The festival presents a curated selection that crosses genres ranging from comedies and love stories to political and historical dramas.
The Levis JCC will host a Lineup Reveal at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the JCC, 21050 95th Ave. S., Boca Raton. Screenings will feature trailers and clips of films featured in the festival. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
The community is also invited to a pre-festival event at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Levis JCC, which will include a preview screening and light refreshments. Tickets are $36 per person.
Among the films and special events being recommended are:
“Among Neighbors” with director Yoav Potash, Q&A, Feb. 19, 7 p.m.
“Once Upon My Mother,” opening night, Feb. 7, 7 p.m.
“The Ring,” closing night, Feb. 22, 7 p.m.
“They Called Us Trujillo’s Jews,” Feb 11, 7 p.m. with Q&A from U.S. Ambassador Robin Bernstein.
“Every film we choose is selected because it makes people feel something,” said Evan Foster, the film festival manager. “Whether it’s humor, heart or history, each screening gives our audiences something meaningful to take with them.”
“We take great pride in being Boca Raton’s original Jewish film festival,” said Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center’s Grand Benefactor Judy Levis Krug. “Each year, our goal is to present new stories that resonate with our audiences, reflecting both the historical depth and the vibrant spirit of Jewish culture.”
