Hedda Gabler: A Life Arranged presented by Shakespeare Troupe

Shakespeare Troupe will present a full production of Hedda Gabler taking place at Sol Theatre, 3333 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida, October 2 – 18, 2026. Featured performers: Nicole Hulett as Hedda, with Ana Marie Calese, Christine Chavers, Geoff Freitag, Sara Grant, Seth Trucks and Jeremy Wershoven.

In this new adaptation, Mr. Galman is rediscovering the fatal character of Hedda Gabler confronted by a question almost everyone has asked themselves at least once: “When did my life become something I was expected to maintain instead of something I was creating?” That question crosses generations.

It speaks to the young professional who wonders if success has become a cage, the parent who has spent twenty years making life work for everyone else, the retiree wondering where the years went, the artist who chose security over risk, the young adult wondering whether adulthood means giving up possibility. That’s Hedda, said Mr. Galman.

“The adaptation that I’m creating is an attempt to rediscover Hedda in a production that will make the audience feel that a play written 135 years ago can understand their life now. They will leave after the show understanding someone they thought they already knew. They will see what happens when the life that one has achieved no longer feels like the life one has chosen. It’s a larger cultural conversation that will engage audience members at a different level than is to be found in contemporary musicals and comedies that dominate the community. Through talkbacks at certain performances, program notes in the playbill, and study guides for students, the discussion is built to have an afterlife.”~Peter Galman
