FLORIDA CULTURAL ARTS GROUPS NEED TO ALIGN WITH PRO SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND AWARENESS
One has to think that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is playing the part of the famed character Ebenezer Scrooge in playwright Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ as a Christmas in June production. DeSantis seems to be the real Scrooge. Last month, DeSantis vetoed $32 million that was earmarked for 577 Florida cultural arts not for profit organizations, leaving many of the companies that fuel our creativity and imagination with works of comedy, dance, drama, music, theater among other arts without expected government support.
HITS ON FIFTH TO DAZZLE AUDIENCES
Hair in the Spirit Inc. presents HITS on Fifth, an annual charity performance which this year supports Heart Sista Inc., in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, August 17 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Broward Center’s Arts Access program.
The Musical ‘ALAN’ Premieres at the 38th-IHTF of Miami
The Spanish musical theater production company WeColorMusic proudly presents “ALAN, el musical” at the prestigious 38th International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami. The production will grace the stage from July 12 to 14 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

In commemoration of Area Stage’s 35th Anniversary, the critically acclaimed company in a new partnership with Loxen Productions, is proud to announce the 90-minute immersive theatrical experience of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Audiences will step into a mystical seaside tavern where sailors and pirates share myths of mermaids and adventure in a brand new space carved out of an empty warehouse at Sunset Place Mall in South Miami designed by Frank J Oliva under the creative
vision of director Giancarlo Rodaz. The experience will begin July 11th for preview with the opening night on July 13th at 7pm.
LOXEN ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES UPCOMING SERIES OF PRODUCTIONS FOR 2024/2025
Loxen Entertainment, Inc., the not-for-profit theater company founded in 2019 whose mission is creating new and exciting work opportunities to members the artistic community residing in South Florida, announced today its upcoming productions for 2024-2025. In addition, the company also announced a new location for its presentations: the historic Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road. The upcoming season offerings include “The Play That Goes Wrong”, the smash hit comedy that is still running in London and New York; “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, the enchanting musical stage version of Roald Dahl’s beloved classic starring everyone’s favorite candyman Willy Wonka; and the hilarious Tony Award-winning musical farce “The Drowsy Chaperone”.
THE BROWARD CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS PRESENTS “SEEKING” BY DARIUS V. DAUGHTRY
In 2022, Darius V. Daughtry, one of South Florida’s best-known poets, authors, directors and educators, presented a stage reading of Seeking, where he explored a journey of self-discovery in the midst of an ever-changing world. Now he brings his well-received work to the stage in this new full production with performances on Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Single Tickets on Sale July 22 for 2024-25 Season
Palm Beach Dramaworks is pleased to announce that single tickets for the company’s 25th Anniversary Season will be on sale beginning July 22 at 10am at the box office and online at tickets.palmbeachdramaworks.org. In addition to all five productions, tickets will also be available for the popular programs Dramawise and OutStage@pbd, as will subscriptions and single tickets for the Perlberg Festival of New Plays.
