THE BROWARD CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS SEEKS PERFORMERS FOR ARTS FOR ACTION: BLACK VOICES INITIATIVE

FORT LAUDERDALE – The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is seeking applications from Black performing artists for participation in a series of events including theater, dance, music, spoken word and comedy in its traditional performance spaces as well as an outdoor festival.

The paid performance opportunities are offered as part of the Center’s Arts for Action: Black Voices initiative, which aims to use the arts as a catalyst to heighten awareness, deepen knowledge, create connections and elevate the voices of Black creatives in South Florida. This year, Arts for Action: Black Voices initiatives are generously supported by JM Family Enterprises, Inc.

Anthony Nunziata to sing ‘Love Songs from Sinatra and Beyond’ with South Florida Symphony Oct. 10 at John Knox Village in Pompano Beach

Dubbed “America’s new romantic singing sensation,” Brooklyn-born, Nashville-based tenor Anthony Nunziata will join the South Florida Symphony Orchestra to kick off the John Knox Village Symphony Pops Series Monday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.

 This memory-nudging concert will celebrate tunes made famous by Old Blue Eyes himself along with Rat Pack buddies Dean Martin and Sammy Davis. Jr. Songs include “Once in a Lifetime,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “Just in Time,” “That’s Amore,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Unchained Melody” and “The Prayer.”

Live Arts Miami and The Adrienne Arsht Center Present Ocean Filibuster

MIAMI, Sept. 22, 2022 Live Arts Miami and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County present the Southeast premiere of Ocean Filibuster, a new theater work from Obie Award-winning company PearlDamour. Presented as part of Live Arts Miami’s EcoCultura series of “Performances for the Planet,” the work was originally commissioned by American Repertory Theater in collaboration with the Harvard Center for the Environment. Drawing from myth, stand-up comedy and science, Ocean Filibuster plunges us into the most heated debate of our time. The show opens at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, with multiple shows running through Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Adrienne Arsht Center in the Carnival Studio Theater.
