Las Vegas tribute singers Gary Anthony, Andy DiMino and Lambus Dean become the famed “Rat Pack” singers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. respectively in a July 4 musical show that celebrates the famed trio as well as patriotic holiday songs on Saturday July 4 at 2 p.m. at The Wick Theatre in Boca Raton.
In addition, The Wick will have a July 4 picnic at 11 am prior to the show so that audiences can celebrate July 4 for the entire day with food in addition to hearing both famous hits from “The Rat Pack” and patriotic songs celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
“Being America’s 250th birthday, we want our audience to experience the holiday with all the spirit and joy of the occasion. Not only is this July 4 special for the 250th anniversary, but we all fondly remember the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. for so many decades and having the ‘Rat Pack’ entertain us with their timeless songs,” said Marilynn Wick, Founder and Executive Director at the Wick Theatre.
The 90 minute July 4 show features the trio creating the hit songs of “The Rat Pack” from the four decades (from 1940–80) that Sinatra, Martin and Davis had hit songs along with July 4 standard songs. Among the show highlights will be over 25 songs, including “Come Fly With Me” and “Fly Me To The Moon” (Anthony as Sinatra), “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head” and “That’s Amore” (DiMino as Martin) and “Candy Man” and “I’ve Got To Be Me”) (Dean as Davis) in which each singer shines in solo numbers.
Anthony, Dean and DiMino team as an ensemble in more hit songs from Sinatra, Martin and Davis as well as in many July 4 patriotic songs, such as “God Bless America”, “This Land Is Your Land” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”
Anthony, Dean and DiMino have been performing together as “The Rat Pack” for over 25 years in Las Vegas hotels as well as for corporate events across the country.
“We all met one day and had instant chemistry both on and offstage,so we decided to work together and it has been joyous for all of us” said Anthony.
Anthony, Dean and DiMino showcase their talents not only by looking and sounding so much like the famed voices of Sinatra, Martin and Davis but also feature some of the famed interplay that made Sinatra, Martin and Davis famous when they performed together in thor heyday in Las Vegas. In addition, each of the three singers showcase the physical mannerisms of Sinatra, Martin and David.
“What we do is speak to each other on stage as ourselves, not Frank, Dean and Sammy but what we do is create what audiences remember about the humor and love that Frank, Dean and Sammy had for each other,” said DiMino.
Each of the three singers had much success performing as solo acts in Las Vegas.
Anthony grew up in a musical family in Los Angeles and toured singing with his father’s band. He teamed with his sister Mitzi performing as “The Allens” before earning positive reviews in performing the music of Frank Sinatra.
DiMino is also known for paying tribute to Dean Martin for many years prior to joining Anthony and Dean as “The Rat Pack.” His son is a musician and a songwriter.
“I am very much blessed with bringing the memories of Dean Martin to so many audiences. I’ve always had so much respect for Dean’s music and his wonderful warmth and personality,” said DiMino.
Lambus Dean is from Chicago and prior to creating his tribute show to Sammy Davis Jr, Dean sang with a rhythm and blues band.
“Like Sammy, I loved singing the blues and doing impressions of famed entertainers. Sammy had so much warmth and energy on stage and it is so fulfilling for me to bring back memories of Sammy to audiences,” said Dean.
In addition to the July 4 “The Rat Pack” 90 minute show, Wick Theatre is also having a picnic lunch, with separate admission, on July 4 in their lounge. The menu is an all you can eat buffet featuring rolls, watermelon mango gazpacho, chopped salad maison, shrimp cocktail, sweet corn, potato salad, Greek orzo, chicken breasts burgers, hot dogs and desserts.
