Though it took wading through a “rabbit hole” of plays for director Marlo Rodriguez and the rest of the New City Players (NCP) artistic team to settle on Cry Old Kingdom for their second mainstage production of their 22-23 season, she ultimately couldn’t be happier that this was the play that would go on to become the one with which she is now making her professional directorial debut.

When A’Keyah Dasia Williams took the stage at the recent National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) of Florida drama competition, her outstanding performance of three different monologues impressed the esteemed panel of judges. 

In a field of nearly 20 competitors, her authenticity and power lit up the theatre, leading her to a first-place win and a trip to the national contest to compete for $15,000. 

Afro Cuban funk musician Cimafunk and Rhythm and Blues band Kool & The Gang will each perform in “The Final Set” series of two concerts on March 31 and April 1 respectively at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens at the Miami Open tennis tournament that is currently taking place now through April 2.
